About Liberty Defensive Training
Taught by someone who started this to help people
Chuck Norton
USCCA certified instructor, Training Facilitator at Liberty Defensive Training LLC
Chuck has been involved in training of one kind or another for more than twenty years, and he has had a passion for firearms since he was about six years old. He has held a Michigan CPL since they first became available. He and his wife Gina started Liberty Defensive Training together, and Gina runs the business as owner.
He became a pastor in 2006 and still volunteers as a chaplain, working with survivors of domestic violence. That is a large part of why the school exists. He is certified through the US Concealed Carry Association for Concealed Carry Fundamentals and Home Defense Fundamentals, and he teaches at a pace that suits the person in front of him.

02 What you get
What you get in a Liberty Defensive Training class
01
Training the state accepts
This class meets the Michigan CPL training requirement. Your certificate is valid when you apply at the county clerk, and you get it the day you finish.
02
Real time on the range
Classroom work and live fire in the same day, with a certified instructor watching your grip and stance rather than sitting you in front of a screen.
03
Beginners are the norm
Most students in these classes have little or no experience. You will be coached at your own pace, and nobody will make you feel behind.
Common questions
Questions students ask
Is this class state approved?
Yes. This class meets the Michigan CPL training requirements, and your certificate is valid for your application at the county clerk.
Do I need any experience?
No. Beginners are welcome and many students are shooting for the first time. You will be coached at your own pace, and questions are welcome at any point in the day.
How long does the class take?
One day. You cover the classroom material and the live fire range session in the same session.
Do I need my own gun?
Not usually. Most ranges rent a pistol and sell ammunition for the range portion. Check the class listing for details, or call us at (248) 662-5744 before you book.
What should I bring?
A valid state ID, closed-toe shoes, a pen and a good attitude. Bring your own pistol and ammunition if you have them.
